Job Description:
Michigan Farm Bureau (MFB), Michigans largest general farm
organization, is seeking a dedicated Senior Life Underwriter to
enhance our insurance services. This vital role focuses on
assessing risks associated with policy underwriting while
protecting the economic interests of our agricultural members. The
ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of life insurance
products, outstanding analytical skills, and a dedication to
fostering a secure future for our members. Evaluate and analyze
life insurance applications to determine risk levels and compliance
with policy standards. Use statistical analysis and actuarial data
to determine probability and extent of risk. Work closely with
agents to develop understanding of client needs and provide
underwriting solutions. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry
regulations and ensure all practices meet legal and ethical
standards. Collaboratively work on product development teams to
design insurance products that meet the needs of MFB members.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior underwriters and other
team members. Manage complex personal and medical histories to make
informed underwriting decisions. Strong analytical and
decision-making skills Proficiency with underwriting software and
Microsoft Office Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Deep
understanding of life insurance products and the agricultural
sector Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance 401k
Certified Life Underwriter (CLU) preferred. Membership in the
American Academy of Insurance Underwriters (AAIU) is a plus.
