About the RoleThe Sr. Principal Software Architect for the Enterprise Architecture team develops software architecture that meets the needs of the Digital Cockpit systems powered by Harman solutions. This role will support productizing such solutions, and creating and maintaining them, by collaborating with Harman's internal and external partners. The role is also expected to support new business needs, project proposals, and formulating strategies for enabling Harman to compete successfully in the marketplace.Your TeamYou will be joining a team of enterprise architects focused on the development, and maintenance of software architecture for supported systems and new customer engagements. There could be system engineers reporting to you.What You Will DoDeveloping software architecture for new business needs, project cockpit systems, and next-generation vehicle architectures:Analyzing the architecturally relevant requirements while supporting the requirements team to develop/extend initial requirements as requiredCreate architectural artifacts from requirement analysis that is compliant with automotive practices followed in the business unitSupport SW component owners to further decompose the architecture to the high-level design specifications and review such work productsPlan, drive, and coordinate activities relevant to the architecture phase of the product development lifecycle.Elicit non-functional architectural requirement expectations such as KPIs, stability attributes, resources (memory, flash, CPU, etc.) budgetingSupport for feature/system integration phases:Help setting up mechanisms for measurement of KPI and system resource consumptionGuide system engineering and validation teams to audit, capture deviations and alert projects as neededLead activities to triage and resolve complex system issues including those in performance and stability areas. Review solution approaches to ensure right fix is put in placeSupport for RFI/RFQ activities:Support in requirement gap analysisInterface with internal and external stakeholders to capture key expectationsLead activities to create architectural representations of the Harman proposal highlighting how key concerns are sufficiently addressedSupport for group/team level initiativesLead in technical proof-of-concept on new technologies, innovations, and process/system improvementsCapture learning, ideas, and solutions in internal wiki, documentation architecture models, etc.Support in developing strategies for future-programing business and solutionsMarket research (FOSS - free and open-source alternatives)What You NeedPh.D. Degree in Engineering or related field and 4 years of experience in corporate or academic research; alternatively, Master's Degree in the above-mentioned fields and 8 years of experience in research and development or bachelor's degree and 12 years experience overall professional experience in product software development6 years of experience with systems software experienceStrong knowledge of Embedded Linux/QNX and Android OSOS-based systemsUnderstanding of HW-SW interface relevant to automotive e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet-based protocols, CAN, etc.Strong system-level thinking, in design, development, and debugging.Experience in Software Architecture, Modelling tools, and languagesUnderstanding/experience tools, development environment relevant to Android/Linux/QNX systemsWorking knowledge of automotive infotainment systems and featuresThorough understanding at least one of the key technology or domain areas relevant to automotive. E.g. Navigation, audio, BSP, Operating System, etc.Understanding of compliance regulations/specifications, and certifications relevant to automotive.
