Job Description:

Description:The selected candidate will be responsible for developing heat exchangers for HVAC module and battery cooling applications meeting all customer specifications and program deliverables.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understand customer specifications and ensure application design conforms
  • Interface with the customer
  • Apply APQP to the application (i.e DFMEA, SCIF, DFM/A, DVP&R, Dim/Tol analysis, proto Control Plan)
  • Select materials aligned with Materials Engineering, Purchasing and manufacturing strategies
  • Develop and maintain prototype and production Bill of Materials
  • Lead Design and Release (D&R) Development
  • Develop Design Validation Test Plans
  • Lead and organize prototype materials and process
  • Evaluate prototype tooling cost & timing from external or intra-company sources
  • Direct prototype dimensional and quality controls
  • Manage test material, component, and end item logistics and storage
  • Provide direction to CAD, CAE/CFD and test personnel
  • Lead and organize validation testing per DV test plans
  • Qualify heat exchangers per customer or Hanon requirements
  • Assess testing results and apply design and/or prototype quality countermeasures as necessary
  • Report application design changes and lesson learned to core engineering
  • Release and sign-off of drawings ensuring drawings align with corporate design standards
  • Execute and document all required product design corporate deliverables
  • Interface frequently with global PD, Manufacturing and Program Management activities
  • Provide input to pursuit benchmarking, RFQ bills-of-material, drawings and engineering specification reviews
  • Mentor and guide junior engineer, intern and co-op activities and projects
  • Support and / or lead core engineering design, specification and standards initiatives
  • Support cost reduction initiatives
  • Support production launches
    Years of Experience:
    • 0-5+ years related experience preferred
      • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Mechanical Engineering preferred
        Desired Competencies, Experience, & Qualifications:
        • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, test, and launch PTC HEX components
        • Knowledge of refrigerant and heat pump systems
        • Understanding of heat transfer and structural principles
        • Experienced in design of injection-molded plastic and aluminum components
        • Experience in quality disciplines such as DFMEA, SCIFS, etc
        • Able to interpret CFD and CAE/FEA results and utilize to optimize PTC component design
        • Ability to utilize problem-solving skills
        • Experienced in project planning and management
        • Ability to conduct Technical Design Reviews according to industry disciplines
        • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
        • Work closely with lab on test set-up, execution and report-outs.
          Special Requirements:
          • Travel required to suppliers, customers and corporate manufacturing plants; international as required. Overtime may be required during some time periods.
