Job Summary

Fishbeck is initiating a search for a Civil Engineer with an interest in bridge/structural design for employment in Michigan. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work alongside and be mentored by some of the best technical professionals in the state on projects that will impact local communities for years to come. Primary Functions

• 
  
• Work with experienced professional engineers on assignments related to bridge design, analysis, calculations, and plan preparation.
  
• Design engineer on bridge or retaining wall-related projects, bridge scoping and inspections, load ratings, and other transportation services.
  
• Demonstrate theoretical/practical civil engineering and specialized software knowledge.
  
• Work closely with other Fishbeck technical staff from various disciplines to provide bridge design and other consulting engineering services, mainly for MDOT and local municipalities.
  
  
  
  
  Minimum Physical Requirements
  
  Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, and walking. May perform duties in the field and will be required to access and maneuver around project sites. Capable of traveling to and from projects is required. Ability to use equipment for communication and documentation purposes. Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
  
  
  
  Desired Education
  
  Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures
  
  
  
  Desired Skills/Experience
  
  * Minimum Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  
  * Successfully passed EIT.
  
  * 2-4+years of professional work experience
  
  * Bridge design experience with working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and LFD Bridge Design Specifications.
  
  * Knowledge of MDOT bridge standards and guidelines is required.
  
  * Knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  
  * Experience with bridge inspection and load ratings.
  
  * Excellent computer and verbal communication skills.
  
  * Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
