Role description:

Arcadis is currently searching for an Environmental Engineer to join our team in Novi, MI.

Role accountabilities:

What you will do:

  • Performance of both field and office work, with the expectation of 60 to 80% of tasks in the field.
  • Perform fieldwork which may include drilling oversight for soil sampling and/or groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, excavation oversight, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, and vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys
  • Assist Project Managers (PMs) and Assistant PMs (APMs) with planning environmental investigation and remediation tasks
  • Office work may include task coordination, technical reports, data compilation, analysis, and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file review, permitting activities, proposal writing, project specifications & strategy development, scheduling, and cost estimating.
  • Assist with design calculations for the selection of treatment technologies and process design drawings for groundwater, industrial, water, and wastewater
  • Interpretation and evaluation of field and analytical data to prepare engineering designs, permit applications, and construction-related documents What skills / attributes do you need?
    • Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and work ethic
      • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
      • Self-motivated and team-oriented, with the ability to work successfully both independently and within a team
      • Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions and for extended periods of time.
      • Willingness to conduct field work at project sites with environmental media (e.g. soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes
      • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
      • Strong interpersonal skills, multi-tasking skills, efficient time management, and the flexibility required to support different project managers concurrently. Qualifications & Experience:

        Required Qualifications:
        • Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or a closely related engineering discipline) Preferred Qualifications:
          • Masters of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or a closely related engineering discipline).
          • Prior work/internship experience at a design or consulting engineering firm or municipal work environment.
          • EIT certification.
          • 40 hr OSHA Hazwopper
