Majority of travel would be Domestic, often going to Ohio. Company is looking for someone who will be contract to direct. The Purpose of the Position:
The Field Service Technician will represent company at Customer facilities executing installation, troubleshooting, rebuild, supervision, and/or preventative maintenance activities to optimize our customers processes and machinery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, reprogram, maintain, and improve the production performance of Controls and equipment throughout the installed base.
  • Install, test, program, and commission Controls and equipment.
  • Perform professional preventive maintenance and provide service to our customers; analyse the condition of installed systems and rectify faults; dectect potential problem to prevent production stoppages.
  • Partner with Project Managers, Engineering and Customers to coordinate interlocks, machine requirements, and specifications.
  • Complete detailed service reports and expense reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all GUS policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Support Lean practices and concepts.
  • Support ISO requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Able to support On-Call line for customers on a rotational weekly basis.
  • Support Quotations for customers.
    Required Education, Training & Experience
    • Two (2) years of experience as an Automation/Controls Engineer, or in a related controls engineering role.
    • Experience must include at least two of the following Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Beckhoff controller programation and modification.
    • High school diploma plus two additional years of related technical training.
    • A minimum of 4 years of experience in field service, integration, or manufacturing engineering of industrial automation capital equipment.
    • Proficient reading, oral, and written English language skills.
      Preferred Education, Training & Experience:
      • Education: Bachelor - Electronics Engineering, Electronics Systems Engineering, or a related field of study or international equivalent OR
        • 5+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of training and expereince
        • Ability to troubleshoot and make system parameter changes using PLC, HMI, and robotic motion control servo systems: Beckhoff (Twincat), Bosch-Rexroth, Allen Bradley (Rockwell), Siemens (840D), FANUC motors, ABB IRC5, Yaskawa-Motoman.
        • Proficient reading, oral, and written Spanish (Mexico) or French (Canada) language preferred.
        • Microsoft Office Suite, and other PC-based industrial automation software tools
          Skills, Knowledge, Abilities & Behaviors:
          • Ability to portray company in a professional and positive manner at all times
          • Excellent Customer Service Skills
          • Excellent written, verbal communication and active listening skills
          • Ability to start-up and debug initial commissioning and final field validation
          • Ability to perform mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic installation and build of company equipment
          • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism in stressful environments
          • Ability to work unsupervised and on varying shifts
          • Ability to organize several tasks according to importance and sequence steps to insure timely work completion
          • Ability to follow all applicable safety requirements and other company procedures and policies
          • Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, strong relationship building skills and team player.
          • Ability to travel 75% of the time and work a flexible work schedule
            Supervisory Responsibilities:
            • Ability to effectively lead/supervise contract labor during installations or as needed
              Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to finger, handle or touch. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to frequently travel via car, airplane and/or train.
