Lab based role that supports the product validation process by
ensuring accurate testing is conducted. Position responsibilities
include ensuring that all instruments, fixtures, lab equipment, and
methods used are capable of providing desired performance, and that
test lab persons are trained in proper test methods and
Responsible for ensuring all lab test equipment is in proper
working order, and that all-necessary calibrations are current.
Knowledgeable in customer, Federal, and/or YFAI specifications
and test methods used in the lab(s).
Drives for clear and valid requirements prior to test set up to
prevent rework/retest and ultimate quality.
Ensures that all test data is accurate (includes graphs, photos,
video, and measurements).
Develop and/or refine test equipment and methods as required
Technical lead for test method development to ensure physics of
test are understood and accurately accounted for in actual
Identify and manage workflow through lab. Adjust accordingly to
meet business needs.
Collect and manage test lab equipment utilization data.
Develop and maintain test schedule (adjust accordingly).
Develop and/or refine measurement uncertainty for various test
Conduct training and/or certification of employees as
Manages the outsourcing of tests to qualified test labs.
Identify test equipment and/or capability needs as required.
Negotiate and schedule test lab technicians and/or
Conduct post-test data processing and interpretation of
Evaluation of any necessary testing documentation, which may

Use of Lab Information System for test data and information.
Support test report process by uploading files, loading test data
and information, provide test summary and observations.
Attend department meetings as required.
Interface with YFAI Validation engineers and customers as
Coach and Mentor test technicians and (less) experienced Test
Support continuous improvement projects as required.
Must work independently, (but also be eager to help teammates in
high workflow situations)
Engineering / technical degree or equivalent experience
7-10 Years+ experience in a test lab environment or similar
manufacturing based experience with people, precise equipment,
schedules, and meeting customer commitments.
