PURPOSE: Based in Maumee, OH and reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Commercial Vehicle Products, this position will lead all product planning and program management activities for Commercial Vehicle products globally. The Senior Director, Planning & Strategy will be responsible for leading the evaluation of global and regional market trends that will drive the development and enhancement of Dana's product portfolio in the Commercial Vehicle arena. This role will be responsible for the development and maintenance of all product cycle plans within this segment and will work to ensure profitability by expanding our global markets through product offerings that are valued by our customers. The ownership of the planning and the program management functions will assure a seamless deliver of products from ideation to launch to life cycle management. The role will lead strategy development for the business unit while working with the rest of the Commercial Vehicle leadership team. The key area of focus will be around sustainable transportation and connected vehicle solutions. This will be heavily focused in the area of our new BEV technology and software solutions but will also include our traditional driveline and axle products.. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Establish and implement global Commercial Vehicle product and brand strategies that will leverage core products, regain the installed base, provide product extension where needed, satisfy customer needs and deliver return on investment to all stakeholders.. Evaluate all aspects of product development including:. Strategic Planning. Parts Information Management (includes ERP, Catalog and Web activities). Budgets. Research and development appropriations. Return-on-investment and profit-loss projections. Support new business growth initiatives consistent with the strategic plan. Drive key performance indicators across all areas of the function to ensure that all projects are delivered on cost and on time to the highest quality standards. Formulate, direct and coordinate marketing activities and policies to promote brands, products and services.. Establish cross functional coordination with all Commercial Vehicle disciplines; Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing & Engineering, Distribution, Marketing: to deliver world class customer service and profitability.. Perform all other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Operations or a related field. Master of Business Administration or related advanced degree preferred.. Minimum 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in a manufacturing, business or engineering environment.. Minimum 5 years of experience working with EV planning & strategy.. Experience preferred in as many of the following functional areas: program management, engineering, planning, strategy development, and sales.. Knowledge of the Commercial Vehicle and Motion Systems market.. Strong financial acumen including, but not limited to financial, business quality, and global skills.. Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time as needed with the ability to work non-traditional business hours. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES. Strong customer relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem solving and change management skills.. Understands and leverages a multi-cultural business environment; works across the global organization to establish relationships and gain trust.. Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, strong in building relationships, team player, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiative.. Expertise in sustainable technologies and market trends, Electric vehicles, batteries, motors, fuel cells, etc.. Ability to establish and maintain a high profile in the industry and network with organizations and customers.. Discipline to focus on strategic areas for profitable growth.. Proven track record of developing teams and leading organizational and process improvement.. Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. Excellent organizational and follow-up skills; competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making; and shows aggressiveness when completing assignments and other responsibilities. An understanding of financial analysis concepts and budget management. Collaboration: The leader will actively engage with Commercial Vehicle Executive Leadership team to make joint decisions and must be willing to forgo personal objectives for the benefit of others. S/he will recognize sources of conflict, such as cultural, functional, or geographic issues, and is able to act to resolve them, balancing short and long-term benefits. S/he uses her/his understanding of other parties and self to work more effectively together and is willing to take risks in the interest of advancing a collaborative relationship. S/he facilitates the sharing of best practices across business units and functions and is seen as an enabler of the Company as s/he works to ensure that the mutual interests of all parties are met.. Team Leadership: The leader will be able to focus, align, and build effective groups through his/her ability to paint a vision and then drive action in a collaborative, consensus-building manner.
