Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - Applications

Location: Novi

Salary: $80,000

Our client, a leading supplier of chassis products worldwide, is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of practical experience in the automotive industry and be passionate about driving innovation and technology development. This is a great opportunity to work with a global R&D team and develop exciting new applications.

Responsibilities:

Act as the primary technical liaison between the company and the customer(s)

Provide technical support to customers, including reviewing application data, drawings, calculations, and delivering technical proposals

Lead new programs (APQP) from kick-off to start of production and ensure technical milestones are met

Collaborate with vendors, industry consortiums, universities, and other internal departments

Support customer complaint resolution through application and failure analysis and provide technical reports as needed

Support Sales personnel in introducing ILJINs products to prospect customers

Participate in internal/external brainstorming meetings to generate new application or cost reduction ideas (VAVE)

Identify issues and provide resolutions and/or suggestions

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops/seminars, trade events, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks

Be flexible with responsibilities/projects/duties as these may change based on workload

Work with other Global R&D (South Korea and Germany) teams outside normal business hours as needed

Must be able to travel within and outside of the country as business needs dictate (up to 25%)

Requirements:

2 years' experience as a Mechanical Engineer working in the automotive industry

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Technical Engineering or equivalent practical experience in automotive industry

Familiarity with CAD/CAE programs

Self-starter with creative and critical thinking capabilities and demonstrates the ability to work autonomously and maintain communication with interested parties

Strong oral and written communication skills with emphasis on technical, analytical, and problem-solving topics

Able to work successfully in a multi-cultural, team-oriented environment

Prepare/optimize presentations for reviews efficiently

Proficient with Microsoft Office products
