Civil Engineer (Water Resources-Transportation)



Location: Novi, Lansing, or Grand Rapids, MI


Job Summary

Fishbeck is actively seeking a talented Civil Engineer to work with our water resource team in our MI offices. The position will service the water resource needs of transportation clients. This position requires self-motivation, commitment to high-quality work performance, excellent planning, organization, and communication skills, and the ability to work with other staff in a project team environment. These positions will provide a variety of learning and development experiences for the right candidate.



Primary Functions


Perform design calculations, quantify bid items, develop cost estimates, execute MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer drafting and prepare reports.
Design stormwater, drainage, and floodplain management for transportation projects.
Work closely with other technical staff from all Fishbeck offices to provide utility and drainage design and other related engineering services, mainly for transportation agencies.
Permitting assistance for regulated impacts.
Interact daily with project teams in a multi-disciplinary and multi-office environment.




Minimum Physical Requirements



Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, and walking. May perform duties in the field and will be required to access and maneuver around project sites. Capable of traveling to and from projects is required. Ability to use the equipment for communication and documentation purposes. Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.



Desired Education

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering



Desired Skills/Experience


Successfully passed FE (EIT) Exam.
2+ years of stormwater/floodplain management.
MicroStation/OpenRoads and ArcGIS experience.
Hydrologic/hydraulic modeling experience in programs including HEC-RAS, HY-8, WINTR-55.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
